It took until the 10th end for Edwards to claim the first multiple score of the match and take an 8 to 3 lead. Walton showed signs of the form he’d shown in his semi final against John Pinkowski but Edwards continued to apply the pressure and after 2 hours of play and 24 ends shocked the defending champion and took the crown a 25 to 9 winner.
Well done to both men for a spectacular game of tight and consistent bowls and to President Mike Muller for marking the game. We hope to see many more battles between the two in years to come.

However Callum played a bit more consistently over the journey than Les who could not rediscover the form that had seen him defeat Tony Rudd during their mid week semi. 30.08.2009 Mens 2009 Novice Singles Final

The event was the first time the club has combined both the ladies and men Novice Singles into one competition. After some keenly fought out preliminary events the final was again contested by pennant team mates.
Steve Casey held a narrow lead thru most of the match with Tony Rudd never far away. Many close measures had umpire A. Godwin racing out with an array of mechanical devices to determine who was closest to 'jack'. After 36 ends and over 3 1/2 hours of play the score was locked at 22 all with Tony holding shot and Steve having one to play. The crowd was hushed as Steve took aim. And the rest as they say is history - a little trailer of the jack towards a clutch of Caseys pumpkins and the crown was his. Well played gents - a great game

03.08.2009. Ladies Gateway District Pennants Final.
The undefeated Camp Hill Ladies Pennant team took on second placed
In early proceedings the Islanders shot away to a 15 to Nil lead and the pre match favourites had the jitters.
As play continued across the 2 rinks, leads Jean Payne and Betty Donaldson both became key players by consistently holding shots early. The most improved ladies bowler of recent times, Cheryl Mathieson then added her mark to the game with some excellent draws and conversions. At the half way mark Camp Hill had narrowed the margin to 8 but with plenty of work to do with thirds and Skips from both teams finding the conditions and all those bowls in the heads difficult to negotiate.
Down the home stretch Betty Martins four hit their straps as a team to hold rink leads of up to 7 shots while Mary Donnans four were neck and neck or behind until a 6 on end 17 broke the deadlock and provided the impetus to go on with the job. It was with a mixture of relief and satisfaction that the team extended their undefeated run to win the final by taking out both rinks and with an overall margin of 8 shots.
Well played Ladies . A very good day was had by all.
